More Random

I am really struggling with this weather.  I need to be warm, I need to be outside, my KIDS need to be outside.  I feel like I am losing my mind cooped up in the house all day.  So as I look through pictures of warmer days, I am sharing one of my favorites.

This day was the hottest of the year last summer.  It was one of those days where if your outside too long you might get sick.  I would love to have that day right now, I will always take being hot, over being cold!

Oh, summer, how I miss you!

A few days ago my husband bought me a dozen roses.  They are beautiful.  He is such a wonderful man.  I am so blessed to have a husband like him, not because he is awesome about giving me flowers and other gifts, but because of the amazing person he is.  He loves me so much, despite all of my flaws.  He is so faithful and loving.   Sometimes I can't fathom how some one like me, is lucky enough to be married to such a genuinely good man like him.  God is cool like that.

Have a good weekend all!

Random Thoughts

-Its cold here in Kansas, really, really cold.  I made chicken noodle soup today, because it is warm and I wanted to be warm.  I also made cheddar bay biscuits like they have at Red Lobster, and Fudge Revel bars, apparently because I want to be fat.

-My son has a oral report due on Zachary Taylor, who was only president for 15 months, and didn't really do a whole lot as a president.  I was reading the book and its SUPER boring, I feel sorry for my kid, I was having trouble reading it, so I know he is going to.

-My Ella boo is one naughty little chica.  Today she hit her daddy's flat screen TV with her lego box, opened and unwrapped a box of tampons from the bathroom, found a knife in the kitchen, hit her brother multiple times, and screamed a whole bunch at naptime because she couldn't play the iPad.  Seriously, what is the world coming to, when a 2 year old knows how to operate an iPad?

-Benjamin is my little sugar bear, he has told me at least 20 times today that he loves me and that I am awesome.  Just like that, "I love you mommy, you're awesome."  I love that kid.

-Noah was very needy today when he got home from school, there were lots of tears and attitude and even though I wish I would have realized it sooner, at least I clued in at some point.  Tonight at bedtime, he said something he has never said, "mom, will you sleep with me?"  "no", "can I sleep with you?"  "no"  "i've had a really bad day mom and I just need some comfort!"  so, I laid in his bed rubbing his back, talking and snuggling until he fell asleep.  he is so my emotional one, he wears his emotions on the outside for the world to see, he is so like me.  love him too.

-Even though Ella is rotten, I love her.  She is so cute and has the sweetest laugh and smile.  Today her and Benjamin were playing hide and seek, when it was her turn to count this is how she did it, "one, four, seven, nine, one, four, seven, nine"  really loud and over and over and over, at least 20 times, until I had to yell at her to go look for her brother.  too cute!

-Tomorrow is Thursday, i wish it was Saturday, we have Bunko on Saturday, I love Bunko.

Its time to make the doughnuts.

In the movie Fried Green Tomatoes, Kathy Bates' character has a mini meltdown and says "I wish I had the courage to just get it over with and get really fat."  Love that line.  Welp, instead of the traditional lose weight resolution, I think I just might go the other way!  With the help of these beauties, it shouldn't take too long!

Biscuit Doughnuts
1 can of refrigerated biscuits
Oil for frying

Heat the oil over med to med high heat in a sauce pan.
Take a biscuit and poke a hole in it with your finger, making the doughnut shape.  Drop 2 biscuits at a time in the oil, and flip once brown, be sure not to over cook, they will burn fast.  Place fried doughnuts on a paper towel and then dip in icing.

Icing

4 TBLS of melted butter
2 cups of powdered sugar
3 TBLS of milk
dash of salt
1 tsp of vanilla
whisk all ingredients together
if you like thinner icing, add a little more milk until you've reached desired consistency

You can also dip the doughnuts in cinnamon and sugar, but the icing is SOOOOO much better.
This is a family tradition for my husband and his siblings, so I have to give them props.  It saddens me to think that all these years homemade doughnuts were within my reach, and I had no idea!  That's probably a good thing.

SNOW!!!

***Holy cow, I haven't posted since Halloween!  My life has been crazy, lots of things have happened over the past few months, most very hard and challenging, but some good too.  I am glad its a new year, I have much hope that this year will be much better than that last 2 have been for our family!

Yesterday we had our first snow of the season and our 1st Snow Day, so I bundled everyone up and out we went to play!

They had so much fun, Ella lasted a whole hour, which amazed me!  She kept losing her balance and falling face first into the snow, after about the 10th time, she was done.  Can you tell by her face?

Benjamin was in heaven, he loves to be outside in any type of weather, but snow, snow is this boy's dream come true.

Noah had a good time too, but he was mostly concerned with clearing the sidewalk and the driveway for daddy.  He worked for almost 2 hours, he just wouldn't give up, I had to bribe him with hot chocolate and jelly beans to get him to come in!

Today we are on Snow Day #2, it got much much colder overnight, so we've spent the entire day watching movies on Netflix!

Happy Tuesday to everyone!

Halloween Decortation Projects

Even though Halloween is just a few short days away, I thought its better late than never to post pictures of my latest projects.

Fall Wreath

This turned out much better that I anticipated.  I used acorns from my yard, I just washed them and then sprayed them with some clear spray paint.  I made the welcome sign with stamps and scrapbook paper and then tied it on with some twine.  Cute!

Trick or Treat sign

Here's what you need: a cute frame, poster board, burlap, and candy corn.
cut the poster board to fit your frame and then cover the poster board with burlap. Use hot glue to attach the burlap to the sides of the poster-board.
Once its covered, put it into your frame.
Here is what it looks like!
Then spell out your saying with the candy corn, you have to fiddle with it, to get it to look just so!  Then one at a time, glue the candy corn in place.
I made the "or" out of scrapbook paper and stickers, and then made a few bows for embellishments.  Pretty cute!

She's a bad egg.

I just might start drinking.  All due to my sweet precious princess daughter.  Here's a list of just some of the fun things she did this week.

-got into an open jar of mod podge
-got into the draining bathtub with her pajamas on
-repeatedly opened the DVD player as her brothers tried to watch a movie
-opened a present that I had just gotten ready for a birthday party and threw it all over our porch
-played in the toilet, MANY times, because her siblings keep leaving the seat up and the door open
-pulled gross stuff out of the trash can
-lost thousands of shoes
-gotten into my purse and lost more things than I can count
-stuck her hand in her diaper and got poop all over it (this was super fun)
-ate old graham crackers that were on the ground outside
-marked her arms completely solid with markers

I really could list so much more, but I think you all get the point.  What am I going to do with this girl?  She is going to be the death of me.  Its a good thing she is cute.
